Contact okistag here on the Forum, he used to deal in this kind of Dye/Restorer for Canvas Hoods.

There also used to be a substance called Vinylkote. Quite good and natural looking. I remember Grand Prix Car Accessories in Ballyvolane SC, Cork ordering it in for me a few years ago. I applied it with a spray gun, great finish but it did wear thin at the edges after a few years.

I'm in Cork so I'll try the crowd in Ballyvolane first......then Halfords. Thanks for the replies

Halfords was a no. Yes they have paint for vinyl but you have to stick to certain ones...Blue, red, black and silver

Will update later on with the other possibilities

OK........its been a long time since I started this thread. Finally got an answer.

I tried several painters and none would try it - no experience of painting vinyl and afraid to take it on. So I went on the internet and found a crowd in the UK selling aerosol for vinyl. Unfortunately after paying 100 euro the colour on the cap bore no resemblance to what came out of the tin. Got no satisfaction at all from the owners so I'm not even going to put the name of the company up here in case you are tempted to buy anything from them.

Tried dye for shoes that I picked up in Cork........complete waste of time

    Finally.......I got an answer. http://www.fabricspray.ie/fabric-spray-paint
if you don't see the vinyl paint on the website drop them a mail.

Based in Kildare and absolutely 100% helpful. I sent them the petrol cap and asked for a colour match. While I wouldn't say its 100% spot on - its not bad and I'm a hell of alot happier dealing with someone helpful in Kildare than some tosser across the water that couldn't care less
