Any thoughts on this new SE Acoustic guitar mic & clamp

Just got a mail from Dolphin about the SE GM10

Any thoughts? Seems like a very practical option for the home recordist. I tend to just DI my acoustic even though I'd like to be able to record both mic + DI (then blend to suit).

I have a Taylor E110 and the pick up tends to sound a bit harsh. I have mic'd it in the past too (with an SM57) but it's a lot of hassle & I tend to get mixed results because I invariably move the guitar relative to the mic when I'm playing. I'm a drummer mainly & I'm no great shakes on guitar (chords mainly). This GM10 might fit the bill, but given the low price, I don't know if the 57 would give me a better result (if I sorted my playing technique).

I also have an SE 2200a with Reflexion Filter (which I love for vocals) but because of my small home set up, it's not really practical to keep changing mics/stand when I want to record acoustic guitar.

After a bit of online research, turns out it's not a new product at all. Been around for a while - but originally retailed at €400. Can't find a huge amount of reviews online, so would def apprciate feedback from anybody who's used one.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

Depends on how you play, if you're an extremely over enthusiastic player and move alot it'd be great.

But I doubt the mic is as good as most condenser's set on a mic stand once you keep still enough.

Hey Yoda...having seen your room, I'd say try out the 2200a and see if you get results. You'll spend as much time attaching the GM10 as you will adjusting the mic stand the 2200 is on for the acoustic.

*clicks on link and looks at the price*

Ignore what I said above. If you think it will make your life even a little easier, buy it. At that price, why not?

Cheers Fitz... yeah, it was the price that surprised me... when I checked the online reviews, it seems these were €400 when they were launched 4 or 5 years ago, so now they're only £99stg, it seems like a great deal.

Maybe Mr Brewer might have some in stock at a good price? :D He did me a good deal on the 2200/Reflexion filter in the past

That appears to be very good. If SE made it without the mic, I'd buy it. I like XY for close miking acoustic. Things like this are excellent for clients that like to dance a bit, and also great for miking up live, so as to avoid the disgusting sound of a piezo pickup.

There's also this which looks a bit neater:
