You can buy that kit on ebay for cheap. Theres loads of videos on youtube about it. I'd say it'd burn your legs fairly easily. I saw a guys motorised bike locked up in Trinity. Really nice professional looking. You'll have to buy road tax and insurance so not worth it at all.

I see him regularly on the track or the road beside it. He can get 40kph out of it.

Exactley why these clowns buy them, they *Think* they are getting one over. Id love to see them nailed, IMO they are dangerous, Wonder if they have done any stress analysis on them, obviously a AL frame and a Steel frame will perform differentley.

Be great craic on private land, not so much on public, wonder what happens if he crashes and takes somebody out.

Want a motorbike? Buy a motorbike

Want a Bike Buy a Bike

If you want a car, would you stick a 2 stroke on a ketcar?

If they are pedal assisted bicycles I don't think you need to tax or insure the thing. ie. if it is a pedal cycle with a motor to assist the pedaling.

Personally I'd love one of these : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bexxk_huC08&feature=related

Its not DIY, they are bought in Kits from china with no sort of IS or BS standards or approval. Dangerous and Im pretty sure illegal on a number of levels.

The same muppets probably complain about the noise of modified cars

Of course It will be somebody elses fault when they end up in a heap.

Tis awful altogether. I'm phoning up Joe about this when he comes on.

Most of them unless you go to the 50 and 80cc engines don't go much faster than pedalling. Govt should be encouraging people to use these. The only ones I'm worried about is the hub mounted electric motor kits. I reckon the extra stress on the forks could break it and send you flying but the petrol ones don't have this problem

    Then it's a moped

    AFAIK

Anything that can do more than 25kph is a moped that needs tax and insurance and can't be used on a bike lane

Anything where the motor powers the bike when you aren't pedalling needs tax and insurance

Anything over 250W (what cc?) needs tax and insurance

Kona please don´t give the impression that your a know-all.
Firstly If anyone is thinking about building one ,perhaps assembling one is a better description, there is a very reputable company in Bermingham. You send them the measurements of your cross and down bars and for about €350 you have a motorised bike, no different to battery assisted except much noiser. What better way to but your old lawnmower to better use!!
