Pond's Cold Cream...any other old favourites?

One night I was stuck for something to take off my makeup so I borrowed my mother's cold cream. Now I know why she swears by the stuff! It takes off my makeup so easily without any dragging, and my skin is looking great lately!

Does anyone else have any other tips borrowed from older (and wiser) ladies?

Sudocrem! What a product! Had a spot last night, but a bit of Sudo on it. Cat scratched the bejaysus out of my hands, put a bit of Sudo on it!

Boyfriend swears by Sudocrem-I blame his mother!! I think we have a pot of it in every room in the place, and I found one in my car the other day :D

Johnsons Baby Oil is fantastic for removing makeup, and leaves your skin in fantastic condition. Have to admit that I'm a fan of Olay as a moisturiser, and Carmex lip balm will always be found in any handbag I own.

    Cheap as chips too

    +1 for sudocreme.

Also, Savlon rocks too!..much lighter on the skin for spots than sudocreme.

    Johnson's baby powder too.

My mum swears by Anne French. I remember it disappeared for a while and she was gutted. Imagine my surprise one day when I found about three dusty bottles in a little chemist in the Liberties - I bought the lot and she was chuffed! It seems to have made a comeback since then. Personally I can't stand the stuff, leaves me feeling like I have a sticky film all over my face.

What's sudocream? It was never used in our house. The only use I know for it is nappy rash :pac: Is it an antiseptic like Savlon or moisturiser? Cleanser??

My favourite is vaseline. It is the ONLY thing that works on really chapped, dry lips. I should know, as I have a pile of Lobello, Blistex, Burt's Bees and other lip salves that were useless

I love that stuff! I have really sensitive skin and come out in a rash with anything else ( even hypoallergenice cleansers) so I know its safe! any friends ive told use it now too.

Be careful how much Sudocrem you use on your face....its great to help with spots but if used too often it can apparently lead to increased hair growth....it was very popular among my friends when we were teenagers and now some of them claim it has caused the extra hair growth.
By the way I swear by it for everything !!!

Most Boots should have it and both my local chemists in D15 have it too. I buy the big one and decant into the smaller ones.

just recently started using joyoba oil you can get it in any health shop. Its the best eye makeup remover I've ever used and last's ages. Its great for putting onto dry ends aswell but be careful a little goes a lot way. Another tip is if your like me and use makeup wipes at the wkd or if u don't have time for your usual routine stick a bit of the oil on the wipe and it takes off way more than just the wipe!! its 7euro for a bottle I've had mine months!

Be careful! I used it on eczema on my leg and the hair disappeared! It did come back, but still I wouldn't risk it!

Coal Tar soap! It smells rank but he has amazing skin so it obviously does something!

Vaseline. I keep it everywhere, every bag, drawer, bedside table, bathroom.
Only thing for dry chapped lips.
Eye make up remover when stuck.
    Elbows and heels.
Around my face when applying a home hair dye.

Johnsons baby oil - after every shower.
Also in spring/summer when it's time to let feet out in sandals for the first time - basin of warm water, big squirt of baby oil and sit back and relax for about half an hour and your feet feel so soft and look brilliant after it.

Never a big fan of sudocrem, but have savlon on hand for little emergencies.

I'm a huge fan of tea tree oil.
It's a natural antiseptic, so I use it on spots, cuts etc. Really clears zits up. I'm terrible for popping spots so I'll pop them, then stick a bit of tea tree oil on them to prevent them from reoccuring. I've got loads of piercings and sometimes they get a bit sensitive (esp. around my time of the month) so I'll rub a bit of tea tree oil on!

I also use Vaseline for EVERYTHING... dry skin, chapped lips, rubbing into my nails/ eyelashes to strengthen them, tidying my eyebrows, moisturising elbows and knees. I love it. And especially love the new cocoa butter flavour!

I did Taekwon Do for years, and it's hard on your feet. Even when your feet are callused, they can still dry out and the soft skin cracks. Sudocreme is the business. I slather it on and put on a pair of old socks and hey presto, better condition in the morning.

I also love that antiseptic powder (Sterzac??) that helps dry out umbilical cords. It's great for helping small cuts and light grazes dry out and heal faster.

I think that started because Marilyn Monroe was known to put loads of layers of vaseline in between layers of make up and she had a really fine blonde layer of hair on her face (which gave her her glow in pictures) and people said that it was the vaseline that caused the hair growth but really it was caused by a different hormone cream that she used on her face!
