Would there be any bother with getting a .308 for deer? Is that caliber restricted?
I already have a safe, monitered alarm etc, local fo has been out already.

    Thanks:D

dont see a problem. lots of lads on here have them, it would be restricted if it was semi auto.

As Garv123 has said, it would be restricted if it were a semi auto in that caliber.

Also only bolt actions above .308 are classed as restricted but .308 itself is unrestricted..... unless the rifle you are buying is of bullpup configuration :)

    Confused ? :P

You seem to have a high level of security anyway so all you can do is apply and see what is said to you :)

Restricted if semi-auto, or possibly if it "looks like an assault rifle" (that's a heinously gray area in the law right now with no case law I know of as yet). There's also the length of the barrel to consider - there's a gray area as to whether or not you can have a barrel shorter than 20" from the factory. There's the bullpup config that gunhappy mentions as well (though I can't think of a bullpup configuration rifle with a bolt action off the top of my head - do they make a straight-pull Steyr Aug or something gunhappy?).

But if it's a normal bolt action hunting rifle with a 20" or longer barrel, it's grand.

They do indeed. AUG-Z I think it is, or something similar.

I take a break for 10 min and you swoop in :P

Yep the Z model, Ive seen them advertised in the UK.

Pain in your shoulder not at all..... the pain in your stones from havin a straight pull would bother me more :P

As far as I know, the cocking handle is forward, on the left hand side, much like the standard AUG.

Most likely they are standard Semi autos that a dealer in the UK has converted to staight pull because on googling AUG Z the Steyr page shows a semiauto civilian version.....

It would be easy convert them to staight pull. And the standard postion of the cocking handle would be the best place for it.

I'd Rather a Baikal and Buckshot then an AUG

Very loud to fire as the shell ejects right at your ear.

The Aug is a Dog IMHO ;)

And the codology that they can be fired left handed when you have to change the bolt and the stock

I know of a guy who has a straight pull Aug, I'll post a pic of it if I can find it
