So I'm in town today and not having been to Dawson Jewellers in some time, I decide to take a look at their offerings.

Imagine my excitement when I behold a Seamaster 2254 in the Omega cabinet. :D

    SMP2254.jpg

Now it looked a good few years old in fairness, and mentally I assumed it's value to be circa €1,000 - €1,250. A price range I would consider buying it for.

I inspect it and it has a price tag of €2,200 !!!!!!!!

I soon left. Crazy price for a used watch when you consider that a new Seamaster at full RRP is €400 more.

Am I being unduly irrational or does that price make sense?

    crazy prices all right!
they have asked me 4k for a PAM24 which was very far from mint condition...

I don't know how they can survive in this current climate..

Good point. Their continued existence surely hinges on people with a lot of money, a liking for expensive jewellery, and no internet access.

did you ask 'whats your best price, how much for cash?' etc

last time I seemed half interested in a watch in there the other day he knocked 500 off in about half a second. I think you can haggle like fook in there

I suppose this way customers leave thinking they got a bargain and they can tell the wife they haggled 500 off to justify the expense:D

I always found him a very decent man to deal with. If you want to buy rubbish from unknown sources that's fine but quality has a price.
I've traded back in watches and upgraded and have always been happy with the cost. Establish a relationship here and in the long term I believe the customer is King.
    From a happy customer

And yet more unbridled praise for a certain jeweler from a second thread and a newbie with but two posts? Things that make you go Hmmm... I find that a tad dubious. Thread closed and Eugene From Dublin banned until they can provide evidence that they're wholly unconnected with said establishment.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.
