A CONVICTED murderer was hospitalised after he was brutally beaten up by another prisoner.

Dessie Dundon (28) was last night recovering from his injuries after he was attacked at the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise. The notorious gang member from Limerick was brought to hospital at the weekend following the violent incident inside the jail.

It is understood Dundon, from Hyde Road, Limerick, was assaulted by a prisoner on Saturday.

Dundon is serving a life sentence for the murder of Kieran Keane in 2003.

Dundons turned on by former henchmen

    NEW WAVE: Johnny McNamara

Bosses of Ireland's most feared crime gang have been deserted by their cronies after a decade of terror.

The former foot soldiers have left just a half dozen of the McCarthy-Dundon leaders isolated and on their own and in protective custody behind bars.

Wayne Dundon, the former scourge of Ireland's underworld, broke down and cried during a prison visit with his wife Ann Casey, according to a Sunday World source.

    Violent

The notoriously violent gangster, who is currently banged up in Wheatfield Prison, ran his outfit based on brutal intimidation.

He's now facing more serious criminal charges just a year after finishing a 10-year stretch for threatening to kill a teenage barman.

NEW WAVE: Gary (left) and Michael Kirby (right) are now a threat to the Dundons

The once feared Dundon-McCarthy network has been torn apart by Garda operations, successful convictions and rumours of supergrasses in the ranks, according to Sunday World sources.

While the Dundon-McCarthys once controlled much of the drugs trade behind bars, their violence and brutality have backfired.

Disgusted and terrified by threats of sexual violence, former lackeys have sought transfers to other jails or aligned with factions against Wayne and John Dundon.

The Sunday World can reveal that 40 gangsters regarded as serious players have broken away from the McCarthy-Dundons and formed their own factions.

Strangely enough both Waynes and Johns houses are blurred out on Google Street View.
Looks like they are going to have a hard time inside now, What go around come around.

i hope he's stabbed repeatedly in the groin with a rusty wood plane.

good enough? should i go for something a little blunter perhaps?

edit: haha. can't get much blunter than the edge of a wood plane actually - maybe they could 'tear strips' off him instead!
