I got an order from a customer in America.
Do I still have to charge him VAT?
Sorry if it is a stupid question but I am a newb (open less than a month) and learning everyday.;)
    Thanks for the reply

    No- its an export sale.

But you will need to keep shipping documentation in case of vat audit to show that the goods were shipped to USA.

In your vat return you simply put the amount in the relevant export sales box.

    Morning,
How did they pay? Has the payment cleared? Just keep an eye on overseas payments for fraud. How are you shipping, An Post or DHL?

Do you know the customer? Is it a large order? If it is, contact them directly to confirm address and ship date, just to check if they're legit.

Best of luck with the venture.
    AJB

    Hi,

It is a set of bicycle panniers and because I don't have them in stock my supplier in Holland will drop ship them as a favor so TNT will be used for shipping.

He will pay me by paypal upfront and order will be processed once payment is in.

I did a bit of research and found that the brand of pannier he is ordering from me is hard/impossible to get in the USA but still has good reviews there.

    We'll see how it goes
