What are peoples experience with these guys?

Quality of batts? service? postage cost and time?

I want the best battery there is to offer, so are these the ones im looking for?

Im using an M4 with front wiring, so this is the biggest 9.6v i can get yeah?

    Thanks,
    Avose

Okay, just had a gander... they have alot of confusing detailsXD

Im looking at a nunchuck battery.

Correct me if im wrong 20amps discharge rate vs 25amps.
25 = better rate of fire
    20 = Prolonged battery life?

Also, i have a smart charger. i was gonna get this but after searching your site i am left utterly confused.

    Put simply i need
9.6 with at least 2000MaH W/ deans connector
An adapter for my charger. Female tamiya to male deans.
Maybe a spare pair of deans.

Also what is the quality for these batts? I bought a pack of intillect 9.6v 2000mah nunchuck from hobbyairsoft and i was not impressed... Died after a mag after less than a month of use! So now i want to get a really good quality battery that will last a good while with good Life and ROF :)

    Thanks man,
    Avose

the component shop batteries are TOP quality. I refuse to use anything else myself.

Component shop will have a deans to tamiya, if not, you can solder one up in seconds as they sell all the component parts.

Battery wise... have a look in the 9.6 section for a 2000 mah nunchuck, or alternatively, look for the 7.4 volt lipo nunchucks, same 'rate of fire' as a 9.6, faster trigger response, more likely to get 2000 mah or bigger due to size :)

If you email component shop, and they dont have a female tamiya (large) to deans, you can probably ask them for one, and they will, if you ask, ship the batteries with deans already on.

Ok thats great, love to hear that theyre good quality!

Id kinda prefer if they had the adapter, cause its so much easier than me making one. If i make one theres a chance i could screw it up, and seeing as ive got very little soldering experience, i can see myself botching up the process :P If i have to though i will ofcourse buy the components.

I like the idea of a lipo, but atm im gonna go with the 9.6v purely because i shelled out 45 quid on a smart charger for NiCd and NiMh only. Sometime in the future, i can see myself getting a lipo. Just not yet :)

Also, if i get 20 amps instead of 25 do i have longer battery life?

And slightly off topic, if i get myself a 2200MaH battery, can i put my smart charger up to 2000Mah? and it would take just over an hour to charge. Is this safe? Is there any pros to charging at a slower rate?

    Thanks again,
    Avose

EDIT : Just found the adapter i was looking for, great price :) £1.25

They do cusom adaptors there, just go to "leads" and scroll down to the very end of the screen and you options are there.

the adaptor isnt hard to do if they cant do one... one tamiya with wires, one deans... infactm get thier large tamiya female to small tamiya male, cut the small male off, and just bang the deans on... its two joints and done.

Battery.... yeah, I think thats ok. you should always set it as close to the mah as possible. 1, 2, or 3000 etc.

slower charging, or trickle charge, is better for the battery. fast charting isnt as efficient. trickle taking longer is more likely to give you more of your charge, thus last longer.

and a lower amp rating would last slightly longer yes.

Okay, well i found an adapter, and ive chosen a good battery. 9.6V nunchuck 2200Mah @ 25Amps :) great looking battery. Oh and fitted with deans.

Thanks for all your help guys, ill be putting in an order around this time next month.

Damn, ive just realised, what about the fuse??
The battery is rated at +25amps.
My fuse is 25A 250V... Does that mean i need a new fuse?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Battery 25A, Fuse 25A.... Circuit current... 25A...... if it goes over, ie problem, snap. Problem solved.

If you want a little leeway, get a 30A fuse. its not a 'oh no' its 20p.

Thanks, i would like to get the 30Amps fuse just incase, but what kind is it? The only fuse on that site that has 30A is "euro blade" and i dont think thast the right one...
The othe fuses only go to 20A. Any suggestions?

If you go into a motor factors they should have the ones you need for around 30 cent.
Bring your fuse in with you to get the right size too.

Not a blade type, thats the wrong kind. Electronics stores should stock the tube type fuses.

Well the battery arrived on monday, and ive only charged it once, and its still goin strong :D
I have only been plinking, but thats still a good amount of juice for about and hour of charging. I'd say ive gone through six or seven mags and my ROF is still nice and speedy.
Cost me 30 quid incl. the 9.6v 2200mah batt, few deans pairs, and postage. Postage was bout a week.
Thanks for steering me in the right direction lads! :)
