girlfriend's odd thoughts

Hello,
my girlfriend has been acting strange lately and I am at a loss as to what to do in this situation, we have been going out for almost a year and she is a great girl but sometimes she gets into odd moods and has odd behaviours, she gets very paranoid and aswell as saying odd things she will email me odd, random emails, she is 22 years old.

"I have come to tell you that I am infact being haunted by demons, I am unaware of how many there are and am unaware of their reasons but I know they are hurting me - not physically but emotionaly and they may be messing with my electrical communication equiptment for ***** *****.
The demons tried to pretend to me to be an angel of light, a bringer of goodness and righteousness but it was all to trick me.
EVERYBODY IS TRYING TO TRICK ME AND I DO NOT KNOW WHO TO TRUST.
I WANT THE TRUTH.
TELL ME THE TRUTH.
***** ***** IS AN EVIL **** WHO IS MESSING UP MY ENTIRE LIFE.
I HATE HER.
I HATE WHAT SHE IS DOING TO ME.
I HATE THE FACT THAT SHE HAS TOOK THOSE CLOSEST TO ME AND BRAINWASHED THEM INTO TRAPPING ME.
SHE WANTS TO TORTURE ME."

this is an email i recieved from her today, the woman she is refering to in this email, I have never heard of before but my gf believes that this woman is in charge of this world and has sent all secret services out to get her and has spys everywhere, she believes that there are other worlds and she has the key to these worlds and this woman who is after her wants to be in charge of these other worlds and so is after her.

I don't know what to do or what to think of this whole situation.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Far be it for to be make any sort of accurate medical diagnosis, but it sounds like your girlfriend needs professional help. If she's seriously having these thoughts regularly it may be a sign of something like paranoid schizophrenia. Either way she needs help so I'd encourage her to see her GP straight away.

I can't help your girlfriend, but I would advise removing that email from here. You have just infringed copyright law. Email may not be reproduced without the explicit permission from the original author.

Have you talked to a someone about this? In a vague way? Don't mention her name unless you make it clear to her that she is disturbing you.

If its not, I would suggest your gf seeks professional help immediately. That behaviour is not normal and while medical diagnoses cannot be made here, it has the hallmarks of a condition that needs urgent medical attention.

Can posters also please refrain from making internet diagnoses and unqualified inferences regarding the OP's girlfriend and direct their advice towards how the OP should deal with this.

Sorry shuld have wrote this in the original email - I am not infringing any copyright law as I did gain permission from my gf to post this, after I reciieved this email this evening I spoke to her about how I did not believe that there is any woman after her etc and after a long discussion and asking her to sit and read back over the emails with me ( I wanted to see if she found anything in it odd) she disagreed and continued believing (dont know if this is the right word to use here) what she said, so I asked for her permmission to post it on here to see what others say and she agreed.

Grand. Sorry to be crass but I was under the assumption that you were taking the piss. In serious terms though, nobody here can diagnose or offer any real advice as regards your girlfriends situation. Has she been taking any drugs lately? Has she always acted a bit "paranoid"? There are simply too many potential variables at play here. Has your GF suffered any loss recently? You need to talk to someone you REALLY trust about this OP. Does anyone in your family know about this?

Please ask your girlfriend to go to her GP.
