Starting a dead batter car.

Do you guys know where you can get that thing which when your car battery dies, you can plug into the cigarette lighter socket of your car and it gives the car electricity to start the engine??... If you know what I mean...

Yeah, my car's battery is dead again and this time it hit a new low with only after a week of sitting idle, the battery is completely flat, won't even attempt to turn the engine.

It can't be the battery is fecked because it is a relatively new battery in the car. Its either the alternator is fecked and its not charging the battery properly or some electrical wiring in the car is screwed up and its draining electricity from the battery while the car sits around.

Anyway, I'm not gonna spend money buying a new battery or looking to change the alternation or getting the electricals checked.

Instead I decided I'll just buy one of those car starter things you can charge up and keep handy for when the battery dies, you can wire it to the car and wroom you go!!

    SO anyone??

    Thanks...

Alternator light would stay on if the alternator wasn't charging the battery correctly. Dunno where you'll get one of the cig lighter charge yokes, root cause would be the way to go. Long summer evenings with a multimeter ;)

I don't think my car shows up an alternator light... Is that the battery shaped yoke?
If its not the alternator then its defo something leeching out the charge from the battery. Probably the alarm or stereo (both aftermarket fixes on the car), dodgy mechanic probably did a dodgy job with the electricals...

I know very little about electricals so I'ld be absolutely useless with a multimeter. And I'ld rather use the money I'ld need to spend on a mechanic to get it fixed on getting a good battery charger/car starter thing which I can keep charged up so if the batter ever goes flat again, I can quickly start it without much trouble and get going...

Just get a set of good jump leads (16 mm2). And a decent charger.

Yep, if it goes out once the car starts the alternator is more than likely fine. A good auto spark would be preferrable over a mechanic to pinpoint the issue.
