Hi all, I am off to fuerteventura in a couple of weeks. I want to keep up my 180km a week training while on holidays so I will be looking to rent a bike. Have any of you got any advice or contacts for bike rental over there.

I stayed and rented here http://www.playitas.info/ . They had some nice specialized tarmacs, but are away from the main resort areas. They ran some spins from the shop each week but you can take a map and do it yourself. I thought it was a lovely island to cycle in tbh, if a bit gusty.

We will be staying in Fustes, about half way down the east coast. That place in Las Playitas would be about 22km from our digs.

It might be worth asking if they deliver, I know some other rental shops do ( outside fuerteventura admittedly ). Can't see all of their business coming from the resort itself, its an english guy running the shop and he's pretty sound.

rented from a crowd in Corralejo that had bikes of descent spec. However, I noticed the chain was well worn when it snapped in a very remote area with no mobile coverage. Managed to cobble it back together and make it home.

When I returned to the shop I got a refund, but I checked a few other bikes at the time and the chains were worn on all of them.

Hi guys, just so you know, we have set up a new online road bike hire service on the island. Here's the website http://www.fuerteventurabikehire.com/

Oh, I'm the "English guy" who set up the shop for Playitas hotel originally (though, I'm actually Welsh!). We have Giant TCR Comp 2s for this winter.
