Varying baggage limits on connecting flights

    Hi,
I'm due to fly Dublin to Heathrow en route to Lusaka with BA. BA seem to have a much more generous cabin baggage allowance than Aer Lingus who are operating the first leg - bigger bag ( 23kg allowed) and can bring laptop as well.
I'm wondering if the BA luggage allowance could apply when flight to Heathrow is operated by Aer Lingus?
    Anyone have a similar experience?
I suspect the generous cabin allowance I should get if I was with BA the whole way will hardly apply?

Recently flew with Aerlingus (20kg) to Frankfurt and Qantas (23kg) to Melbourne and back.

Was not allowed greater then 20kg on the way over but was allowed 23kg all the way back when the first leg of the journey was with Qantas.

On the plus side the extra space on the way over allowed for extra shopping.:D

Big difference between the cabin weight allowed by Aer Lingus (10kg) and BA who permit 23kg and a laptop or handbag as a 2nd item. Doubt if other Aer Lingus passengers would be impressed if those of us connecting to a BA flight were given different allowances?

From my exp if you book the hole flight through sa BA but yet they then use a diff operationg airline your ok as you payed though them, if you booked a seperate flight or booked it on osmething like edreams then i dont think its carryed though but its prob up to the airline more there!

Thanks. Flight was booked for me through a travel agent, so will check with them. Reckon it'd be difficult enough to carry the 2 bags onto Aer Lingus these days...
