Hi i'm just wondering can anyone help me with this.

I've just finished my undergrad degree and am applying for a masters. I didn't receive a grant for my undergrad and lived at home with my parents.
However i'm moving out and will be finically independent, I'm wondering if i'm entitled to any funding for a MA?

I've tried the student finances website but it would seem if you're under 23 and living independently you're still classed as a dependent of your parents?

I'm a bit confused by the whole thing.

Yes - it would be assessed on your parents income because you are under 23

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If you are under 23 years of age on the 1
January of the year of entry or re-entry to an
approved course, you are not considered to be
living independently of your parent(s) or
guardian(s) even if you are not residing with
them. This is the case whether or not you have
a spouse. Only mature students, i.e. those over
23 years of age on the 1 January of the year of
entry or re-entry to an approved course, who
are living independently of their parent(s) or
    guardian(s) are considered independent
applicants and are assessed as such.

And even if you were over 23, there is now a requirement there must be a couple of years between you finishing your undergrad and starting your postgrad

Thanks for the help, it stings a bit though I have to say. Was hoping I might be able to get something. :(
