Steering column squeaky when turned - Audi A4 2002. Chances it needs parts? Or Just

Im told it may need parts but they dont know til its stripped. The squeak seems to be lower down in the steering column. Ive already spend 1000 on her recenly and dont want to spend too much more. Im told its not a safety issue, just annoynce. What say you? Chances it needs parts?
