I was thinking it would be good to have a thread on 3DS games, comments from users who purchased a particular title, for those looking for advice on what the game is like. I often find video review sites can be pretty harsh when it comes to reviewing titles and often miss the point of the gaming experience.

If you have bought the same titles as me, please feel free to agree or disagree, and let's see how many reviews we can add to this thread for those considering purchasing the console and software.

    Street Fighter 4 3D (Capcom)
Pros: Love the fact that this game has a full 35 character roster, it's a great testament that Capcom managed to fit everyone on the bill, and gives you a great diversity in playing. Few characters act the same and you're going to be playing with one for a while before you learn their particulars. I think the StreetPass system works well, and the graphics are superb, even if you've played the console version of this game you'll be amazed how well it looks on portable.
Cons: For me personally Arcade mode is a little short and devoid of action, I would have preferred a more story driven kind of thing, and the only other problem I have with this game is the online fighting - but that's more a reflection on the quality of fighters I've come up against (both good and bad)

    PES 2011
Pros: Handles well, controls don't take too much getting used too, and despite not having the licenses that Fifa does this game still makes a great representation. Graphically it looks great (although I'm not sure 3D really adds anything to this game) and if this is a port of PSP game engines then it certainly looks fantastic. The Analogue stick on the 3DS is also a welcome addition. It's a pleasure to play a game that feels so well sourced.
Cons: For me, this game has little to separate it from it's PS2 or PSP counterparts, nothing has really been added and with the announcement of Fifa 3D (and the content it will bring) I can't really recommend this game for anything other then a rental unless you need a football game with your 3DS and can't wait otherwise.

Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars
Pros: Fun game, probably the only "real" platformer on 3DS at the moment (leaving Rayman aside, and I really would). I would describe myself as a Star Wars fan, and I've played this and other Lego titles on other formats, and even though I didn't understand the Clone Wars storyline that didn't seem to make a difference for me. Some little Minigames can be unlocked, although they're just harmless distraction, and the replay value in this game is excellent. 3D wise this is the only game I've played outside SF that really uses the graphic to some effort - best example is when you collect studs and they fly towards you at the screen or when a droid jet-packs into view.
Cons: StreetPass has no value whatsoever, collecting Studs couldn't be easier, and you can unlock everything for about 4.5Million (you can get 20million in one level with a score multiplier unlocked) so you don't need to get studs from anyone. The game itself seems more focused on Jedi powers and tricks and you'll find playing as anyone else long term will make you struggle through levels longer then required.

    Dead or Alive: Dimensions

Pros: A game that is not getting the acclaim it deserves. For me it's the game I've enjoyed the most so far on 3DS. SSF IV is the better game but I've been playing it to death on Xbox for the past two years so DOA is a nice change of pace.

A multitude of different modes, characters, costumes, stages and extras to unlock. A control scheme which fits perfectly to the 3DS. An interesting story mode with cutscenes that look great in 3D. Online multiplayer. Easy to get into but hard to master.

Cons: The frame rate drops during gameplay when using 3D mode. Best to switch it off for gameplay and turn it on for the cut scenes.

    9/10

    Super Street Fighter IV

Pros: All the gameplay, characters, backgrounds from the console versions. Contains most of the costumes which console users had to pay for. It's Street fighter. Graphics look great. Great online multi player.

Cons: Control scheme is a not as good as using a Hori or Capcom fight pad but it's no worse than using the Snes pad and far better than the awful 360 D-pad. No animation for backgrounds and as far as I can tell it doesn't feature the original remixed BGMs featured on the console versions but these are minor complaints.

    9/10

    Ridge Racer 3DS

Pros: Plenty of tracks, both old and new, from the Ridge Racer series. Fast arcade racing fun which suits the handheld medium.

Cons: No online multi player. Graphics don't exactly push the 3DS to its limits.

    8/10

    PES 2011

Pros:Contains most of the modes featured in the console versions. Good, solid game play which is the hall mark of the franchise. Plenty of teams.

Cons: I found the game play much more difficult with 3D mode on. It doesn't add much to the graphics anyway-just use it for the replays and intros etc. No online multi player.

    8/10

    Super Monkey Ball
Pros: Not much.....even the Wii game was a lot more fun!
Did get for free off the Gamestop facebook though :pac:
Cons: Finished the 7 worlds and hit the credits after 70 minutes....credits scene was longer than a world! No incentive to go back or even do the 8th world. (which was unlocked after)
The two minigames were nothing special either.

Suppose on the upside i traded it straight into gamestop and only owe a tenner on my preorder of Ocarina of Time :D

    Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars

The absolute sleeper hit of the 3DS launch. If it wasn't for this game I really wouldn't have much to play on the console. (Streetpass quest, that's about it) The game is pretty much Advance Wars. So if you like turn based strategy games you'll absolutely love this.

Even if you've never played a turn based strategy game before, give it a go. You might find you'll really enjoy the genre.

The 3d, while not really that necessary (I turn it off to conserve battery power), is still damn good, with real 'pop out' with telegraph polls and then depth with quarries. A lot of people are saying it doesn't show off the system that much visually, but I've found the 3d in it to be great.

It's a very long game, so you certainly get a lot of value out of it. Also another nice thing about it is you can save any time during the levels. They can take a while to finish, but you can do it in bite sized chunks on transport and the likes.

Probably the only 3DS game now I'd really bother with. I also have Pilot Wings, which is a great tech demo for the system, but doesn't feel like a complete game. Ghost Recon on the other hand will get many more hours of play :)

    Ghost Recon Shadow Wars
Pros: Great gameplay, took me 35 hours start to finish and none of the missions were boring.
    Cons: Zero replay value.
    9/10

    PilotWings Resort
Pros: 3D depth very helpful landing the planes, looks great, cross between pilotwings and the wii sports resort game.
Cons: Boring after a while. Very repetitive.
    6/10

    Nintendogs+Cats
Pros: A worthwhile sequel to the original. It's not just cats. Everything looks better and there's much more to do. I find myself playing this game most often now that I've traded in shadow wars.
Cons: It's not really a game.
    7/10

    Ridge Racer 3DS
    Pros: The confetti is cool.
Cons: Cornering is broken, 3D is worthless, not impressive in any way.
    4/10

    Super Monkey Ball
Pros: Gyro mode is great, very colourful.
Cons: Gyro control messes up 3D, loses calibration often, very easy game.
    5/10

    Super Street Fighter IV 3DS
Pros: Good fighter, online, good feature list.
Cons: I don't like fighters that much.
    8/10

    Lego Pirates of the Caribbean
Pros: Good use of 3D, different genre to what launched with the 3DS. I haven't played it much yet.
Cons: Duels are simplistic push buttons etc., lego, pirates of the caribbean. I haven't played it much yet.
    6/10

    Steel Diver

    Pros:
    Fun for about 30 minutes.

    Cons:
    Too slow moving.
    Mediocre graphics
    2 throw away mini games.
    Control input not precise enough.
No multi touch on the touch screen (big problem)
    Zero replay value

    Could have done better!
