    1 Leinster 09-11
    2 Toulouse 02-04
    3 Leicester 01-02
    4 Munster 06-08
    5 Wasps 04-06

Leinster for the comeback on Saturday and winning via a very hard route.
The 02 Toulouse team was sublime
Leicester the only team to do back to back HCs and won their domestic league as well. Munster in 08 were close to unbeatable, not pretty but effective.
Wasps, winners of the 'best' HC game ever (SF V Munster).

I actually think the Munster 09 team was better than the 06 and the 08 team. They were more complete in terms of backs, forwards, impact subs, tactical style. I thought they walked it that year and so did half of Munster who had booked tickets for the final.

The 'O6 team were a ten man mauling machine. The '08 team spend half the game sealing the ball off. Both years they knew how to win - but win ugly. Even the team that lost to Northampton in the final (a game they should of won but were very unlucky) were better.

I think until someone else tops their 4 titles neither Leinster, Munster nor Leicester, Wasps can claim to be better than Toulouse in this competition.

Has to be Toulouse. 4 titles...simples.

I think the OP meant the same team as in group of players as opposed to the best club overall. For example, the Toulouse team that won it in 1996 wasn't the same team that won it in 2003 which wasn't the same team that won it in 2010. So taking it as the Toulouse group of players from the start of the century or the Munster team from 06/08, Leinster 09/2011 etc.

It would be between Leicester, Toulouse and Leinster I think. Munster were awesome but they had more limitations than any the others.

That's exactly what I meant. Obviously with 4 titles, Toulouse are the best club - or at least have the best record. I was wondering which winning TEAM would be considered the best. Would, for example, Leicester 2001 beat Leinster 2011? Hypothetical, I know, but interesting to consider.

Wasps for me were the best example of 'the sum of all parts' not a lot of super stars in that Wasps team but they were some unit.

In terms of game, i suppose Leinster this year are very high but then rules were not the same, etc ...

It's hard to judge this one and it's pretty much useless but i guess in the eyes of a fan it's fantazy.

Toulouse for sure. 4 Titles and how many finals? F*cking ridiculous really. Leicester came all too close to being the second best had we won the Treble in 07 but alas those f*cking Pests killed us

Each side i think has a unique story to tell. Can't think of one final that didn't have a good twist to it.

Player wise it's impossible to compare to the sides that won it 10 years ago the game has changed too much.

Has anyone won the HC by being the away team in both the quarter and semi final? My mind only stretches back to 07 but hasn't every team that's won the HC or even gotten to the final had home advantage in the knockouts?

Munster in 2008. Munster got the home draw in 2009 too but you can't really call that an away semi-final for Leinster.

actually you can add Brive to your list. They almost won back to back. Great team and very attractive game.

What was the name of the Polish flanker who played for Brive? An ox of a man, great to watch him steaming over players and then throw a perfect skip pass.

This is so true, and a reason why none of us can get enough of Cup Rugby!

Every year there's a 80/90minute programme made on the path of a team to the Super Bowl, and every year it's phenomenal watching. I guarantee that the same could be said of every team that's won the Heineken Cup.

I can't think of a year that didn't grab everyone's attention with some story.

Would be a great series. Munsters win finally comes. Leicester aim for the treble. Leinster get into their first final. Toulouse becoming the undisputed Kings of Europe. The list goes on!

That's what makes the Heinekin Cup so special and one of my favourite competitions of any sports.

    Leicester for me.

Let's not forget they had to beat Stade in Parc de Princes in searing heat to win the title. And Munster in Millenium was effectively an away game.

AND they jammed in a domestic double.

all of the above based on the question best "team" as opposed to "club". Club would obviously be Toulouse.
