    Hi guys,

I had a thread last week about a new netbook, but my budget and what I think I should get has changed a bit.

I'm looking for either a netbook or notebook.

I currently have a pc which I use for my main tasks and I also have a Samsung N510 (with RAM upgraded to 2GB). However, the netbook has had it.

It will mainly be used for the internet and music. The only games that would be played on it are online flash games so no need to worry about being able to run the latest games.

    My criteria would be:
    - Faster than the Samsung N510
    - Long battery life
    - Screen size....smallest 11.6", biggest 15.6". I think 13.3" would be the perfect size for me, but it's not a deal breaker if it's not that size!
    - Budget - MAX of €500, spending less would be nice ;)
    - Bluetooth would be nice but a deal breaker
    - A card reader would also be nice but again not a deal breaker
    - HDMI....I have never once used it on the N510 so not too bothered about it
    - Harddrive...anything over 120GB and i'm happy!

The main criteria here would be the first 1 i've listed. It needs to be fast. The Samsung suffers a bit when I have music, skype, msn and plenty of webpages open which is why I want something faster and more powerful. A long battery life is also very appealing (i.e. 4 or 5 hours +). After nearly 18 months, the battery on my N510 is still good for about 3.5 - 4 hours. However, I know if I get a notebook, the battery life will suffer.

At the moment, i'm looking at this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_IdeaPad_S205_1076388.html or this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Sony_VAIO_VPCEB3J0EWI_1011070.html

I like the look of both of them. Big plus with the Lenovo is the battery life. However, at the moment, i'm trying to decide whether spending an extra €100 - €150 on top of the price of that is the way to go, as I will get a machine which will perform a lot better. The big drawback with the Sony one i've listed is the battery life.

So, any suggestions for me? What do all you knowledgeable people think I should do?!

Oh and does anybody know how much delivery from saveonlaptops is?

    Thanks!

    Hi BDJW,

I had a similar thread to this recently, and the lenovo seemed to come out on top. It seems a great machine by all accounts, just doesnt seem to be many reviews for it. I'm probably going to order one in the coming week. Its upgradable to 8gb of ram so should hopefully last a while too.

Anybody have any other suggestions on what to get on my budget that will suit my needs?

Did you look at this German site. Perhaps a little more expensive, but gives you some hardware upgrade options, with a stated battery life of 8.5hours, and includes your bluetooth options. Also available in silver and red for the same price.
