    Hello.
Spotted this to-day around 4.30 from Shankill, is that normal? Looks like a very sudden left turn!
BTW Just want to say huge thanks for the stunning pics and info in this forum, and in particular the US aircraft arriving over the last few days, great stuff!

Looks to me like the trails of two separate aircraft.

It does look odd and I would love to make it into a weird manoeuvre. But as Echoindia says it's probably two aircraft. As it happens vapour trails only form in certain atmospheric conditions. If you climb or descend through these levels the trail disappears. Given that airliners follow known and predictable tracks. It's not such a coincidence. Quite possibly the point of track change coincidcides with a navigation aid. Given that Shankill is near Dublin, say Killiney, it kinda fits.

converging contrails - you can see the ends of both tapering off......

Ah yes, can see it now that you say it, thanks, I was puzzled.

happens all the time, soon as the contrails start to disperse they can leave some pretty puzzling patterns,

More great pictures thanks. Just wondering now, how much do contrails contribute to cloud cover, I never gave it much thought before. Maybe that's a whole other thread...
