    Hi all

I started a new job just over a month ago and i get paid monthly

my company's accountant was in on friday doing up the monthly wages and noticed i was been taxed at a very high rate
so he phoned the tax office and they said that i had to contact my local tax office or i will continue to be taxed at 40.5%

I phone the tax office and some one was using my pps number so i was down as working two jobs and thats why i was been taxed at such a high rate
anyways i got the problem sorted and i am not been taxed at the standard rate

But what i want to know is will i be refunded the money ive lost and if so how long will it take

    Thanks for any information

    Kind Regards
    Sinead

Sounds like you are on emergency tax. Once you contact your tax office with your P45/60 they should sort you out, most large companies will do this for you if you give it to payroll.

If you have given the company a P45 you should get the tax back through your wages. I was in a similar situation( down for 2 jobs in the tax office) I got nothing back from the company I was working for and rang the tax office who were really unhelpful; she just told me to talk to the company. I then rang again and asked for a p21 so hopefully any money I am owed will come back through that. Maybe worth a try if you are not getting anywhere with payroll.
