Help building budget gaming/media PC

Windows 7
DVD Writer
I have surround sound so would like to plug that in too

what kind of gaming? what resolution is the TV?
What input's does your surround sound setup take?

Gaming isn't too important so the best graphics card I can get but still stay in budget. This is lower down on the list of priorities.

Tv is 1080p.

Surround sounds takes optical, hdmi or regular component cables, as far as I can remember.

At that budget I'd consider getting a second hand machine, it may be less hassle in the long run?

Hope this is ok mods?! Im about to sell my dell media centre on adverts shortly, just cleaning up the hardsrive at the moment. Will link to the ad in my sig today

This leaves €15 to get a wireless keyboard. The keyboards from HWVS are almost all German layout so not much good. You'll have to settle with onboard graphics, theres no room in the budget for a dedicated GPU. It will be able to play video without any problems though.

Sorry to butt in slave but isn't that not just the upgrade version of windows 7 doesnt the op need the full version or am i wrong lol

It's says upgrade but I got it a while back and did a fresh install from scratch, wee bit of looking around on the web but can be done

Hmm interesting because I nearly have all the pieces for my build and I am looking to get Windows 7 as cheap as posibble lol

Very long thread here on the W7 at that price and confirm that you can do a full "from zero" install, did it myself (after a number of attempts I must admit)

Decided to leave out W7 for now. Might look into Slave1's suggestion.

I went with all the other suggestions by deconduo except changed the processor for AMD Phenom II X4 955:

Worth a trip to Aldi/Lidl as they generally have a selection, I'm using an Aldi one here in work for the last few years, no issue and it gets used 8 hours a day!
