iPhone 4 problem: playing music using iPod + earphones

My music plays fine without earphones plugged in but when I use earphones I get distortion and very low vocals (almost inaudible). Earphones are fine (I have used 2 pairs) plus the sound is good for other audio like radio, YouTube etc. I have also tried syncing my music again but to no avail. Any ideas?

check theres no fluff or anything stuck in the headohone jack, run a toothpick or something around it and blow into it

Go into ipod settings and make sure 'sound check' and 'volume limit' is off

Thanks for the tips. It is working atm, it appears that I was pushing the earphones too far into the jack, if I pull it out slightly the sound is perfect. Seems a bit dodgy to me???

are ya using normal earphones or the iphone ones, if ya compare the 2 the iphone ones is a bit longer and i think it has an extra ring aswell, afaik its to allow the mic to work
