It's the End of the World As We Know It...

    And I feel...the need to watch a film! :p

This is a response (of sorts) to this thread. So the world didn’t exactly end (or the Rapture got off to a deadly slow start).

But what if you knew the world was going to end and (for a completely inexplicable reason) you chose to finish you life watching a film? What film would you choose to watch? Just remember; St. Peter will want to know why you chose that film.

Due to an ecumenical matter, you only have time to watch one film with a running length of less than four hours before the world is destroyed with brimstone and fire*.

My personal choice would be Dr. Strangelove. I cannot think of another film more appropriate in summing up how crazy you’d have to be to destroy the planet and at least I’d have had loads of laughs before it all ended. In the final moments of the film I’d wonder if Vera Lynn was correct though…

    * If you want to watch something like 'Andy Worhol's ****', fine, but you can only do it after death!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Neat reminder that while it's easy to regret a lot of stuff in retrospect, you'd probably make most of the same decisions again.

The Fall, directed by Tarsam. Amazing film.

Probably Citizen Kane. It's always good for another watch or two, and runs the gamut of great filmmaking - stunning cinematography, excellent plotting, a unique approach to narrative, great dialogue, and it's by turns funny, exciting, dramatic, awe-inspiring, dark and life-affirming.

I'd watch Body Double/Death Race 2000 double bill with lots of crisps and cider.

I'd watch Dr Strangelove so I could laugh at how ridiculous it all is.
