Leaving Cert results on Cv

How long do you leave your LC results on your CV for? I did mine in 2007 and have always had them on my CV with the grade I got in each subject. I'm kind of thinking now though that maybe that space could be filled with something more useful, like more detail about jobs, skills, hobbies etc?
Although I did do very well in the exams so maybe it's good to leave them there? or instead of saying what grade I got in each subject just saying how many points total?

    What do other people do?

2007 isn't that long ago. Your highest/most relevant qualificaion is the most important.

The leaving cert is one line on my CV, listing number of honours (no mention of subjects), but it was some time ago!

As a general rule, I only ever include my most relevant "stage" in any great detail.

So I had LC results in CV until I graduated from my degree. Now I just say attended X from 2000-2006 or whatever.

When my masters is complete I will be likely removing my subjects etc from my degree... Just briefly mentioning I got an honors degree at X university.

However... If my LC subjects were relevant to the role I was applying I would mention them. For example, if it specified I needed to speak french, and I had an A+ in LC french (as highest qualification in french) I would include it!

If I was applying to a business area and it was a major part of my degree for example it was related to a thesis I had done or something. I would go into detail on this.

Did mine in 2007 too and just updated it.

Changed it to a three sentence thing
    -LC, school name & address
    - XXX points (won't lie, part of that is to brag a touch) -including A's in and gave a very very brief summary of the best/relevant subjects.

Great that you got a top LC- well done on that.

Just a side point though- in the 6 months I've caught out 2 different candidates for graduate jobs who got job offers from my clients. They didn't think that I'd be checking their leaving cert results as well as their university ones and it turned out what was on their CV's didn't match the reality of what they actually got. They had all gotten through the recruitment process, had been offered jobs and then had the offer retracted because of their porky pies. Apart from the hassle they put me and the client through they also didn't take stock of Dublin being a very small town- their names will crop again somewhere and tongues will wag.

Then last Friday I was speaking to a contact in one of the country's largest insurance companies. They were taking on graduate accountants and when it came to doing due diligence they discovered one of the Leaving Certs submitted was a fake- by that I mean the candidate had gone to the trouble of forging the actual type of paper they are printed on and they typing in results to match their story. The end result is that the lad who had gotten the job offer has had it retracted. But my contact says what's worse is that he is operating in a small industry- he reckons his whole career might be over because accountancy is a profession of trust and as before tongues will wag.

For anyone thinking of forging / lying on their CV about results my advice is simple- don't. Recruiters are paid to check you're bona fide and you'll be caught out by any recruiter who is worth their salt.

Being honest, if I get a CV with LC Results I will more than likely skip over it.

Too much information IMO, as I don't feel its relevant.

    At most I'd go with:

    School name
    Years attended
LC (with or without honours) completed

If a CV is sent to me with JC and LC results (usually taking up a page on its own) it gets put in the 'special pile'.

Sorry - I should enter a 'but' here. My opinion is based on the guys that I'm looking to hire. Graduate positions, accountancy positions etc will require more detailed CVs, granted.

How can a recruiter check your Leaving Cert results? Can they just ring up the Dept of Education / School and get them? I thought their would be some confidentiality to this.

usually they will look to see the certificate if you pass the interview stage.

Assuming you've the leaving cert at least then yes. Experience would most likely be a lot more relevant.

I just put down Passed with Honours, I think my work experience is a hell of a lot more worthy than points on my leaving cert!
