Hi everyone, collected my 223 today. Took off the scope to give every thing a good clean. When i put it back on i leveled rifle , took off the turret cap and leveled there too, it looks fine to the eye but when i look through the scope the crosshairs are not level.
Any ideas what im doing wrong?? or would it be ok to just get the crosshairs level to my eye and leave it at that.
    Thanks
    Dave.

Well Tac, This is exactly what i did and still no joy.
The scope is level. Is it possible that the turret is off a bit maybe??
And i made sure the level is level too:)

Well if you had a scenario like me, your stock may not be level with your action.
Simple solution adjust scope to suit, harder solution bed your stock to fix

Ah should be ok, try using a different level, then try looking at you holding the rifle in the mirror.

If it is level it's level, if not re-investigate

If the level is not level in the bore direction then when the level is put across the bore axis then the level will be off it not put on exactly 90 degrees. So level the bore axis first and make sure it does not move, use a gun vice or bi-pod and sand bag, or something solid, at the back of the stock. Now you can put the level on the turret across the bore axis and level off.

The only way to check is to shoot ing gun and give up/down left/right clicks to see if the impact moves alone that axis.

How to Square the Rifle Scopes Crosshairs to the Barrel’s Bore Center

As a side not I can never get the reticle level without using this method, is always looks good but everyone else will say its off and it is.

Cheers for the info lads. Got it sorted today. Just put the scope level to my eye and it shoots and tracks fine up, right, down, left back to zero out to about 150yrds then all was wrong was my shooting.
    Once again cheers:)
