basically I was really sick the day of my singing exam and couldn't make it in... and me being the twat that I am i did pretty much nothing else for that module (the performance exam was worth 70%, so i figured I'd be ok), and now I've just realised that if i can't repeat that singing exam then i've failed the entire module ! I'm not keeping music next year, but you do need to pass it ....so yeah. anybody know can you repeat performance exams? I don't have a doctor's cert., so I'm kind of terrified of contacting the department.... =/

I'm pretty sure you can repeat it , although dont take my word for it.

maybe check the module guide, was trying to do it there but the the link is down on the nuim site.

I'm sure there will be some way to make it up if you have a sick note.

Get one. Even though it was a while ago a doctor generally will still try to help out.

Headline: Yes, it is possible

Longer answer:

The performance repeats happen in August, in the weeks before and after the August repeat written exams. They are examined exactly the same way as before except there is a cap on your mark - don't worry though, as you are not keeping up music that doesn't matter so long as you pass. Unless your medical cert is accepted by the music department.

My recommendation would be to make an appointment to speak with the module convenor Dr Cascelli and explain that you were sick. I strongly advise you look as apologetic as possible.

Then, get a sick cert from your doctor, submit it by the date Dr Cascelli gives you, and practise!

Second issue: how was your attendance at Ladies' Choir?
If it was really bad that will look dodgy, so maybe apologise for that as well. Were there ensemble reports? Did you do them? Again, if not - apologise!

Coasting is fine in first year so long as this sort of thing doesn't happen, then it can really bite you in the ass...

Hope that helps. If you need any more help get me on president@nuimsu.com

You need to go talk to Antonio and get a doctors cert, once this is accepted you will be sent a date for August closer to the time.

When I had to do mine in August in first year because of tendonitis they were held the week before the written exams and its the same format as the practicals in May.
