    Matthew 24:36

''"However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.''

Explain to me how the assertion that nobody knows when it will happen means that it couldn't have happened today. If nobody knows when it's going to happen, then doesn't that mean it might have happened today, regardless of whether it was falsely predicted? Not sure you thought this through...

To put it another way- if we assume that the bible is correct, and that nobody bar God can have knowledge of when the rapture will happen, then it follows that all mortal predictions of the rapture are in fact false and do not represent knowledge. Such predictions should have no connection to whether or not the rapture is going to happen on any given day. Someone might predict it correctly, but only by coincidence. That false prediction won't stop the rapture.

    You follow?

They forgot about the extra leap year every 200 years. Georgian calender. I also think they forgot to count the first year, or the last year.

So, if you end me all your money (so that I can spread the word and sale more souls) I will tell you exactly when it will be.

I have precise calculations, based on hidden texts that were covered up by the Vatican, that show exactly when it will be - and it is going to happen at the same time all around the world, with earth quakes rolling out from Judea; the land rising up like the sea and only the repentant will be saved!

    Etc. etc. etc.

You had me at 'they'. Where can I send the money?

nobody knows the time nor the hour only God.
It could not have been today cos it was predicted by man.
When the day comes no one will be expecting it.

Maybe from now on if someone chose a day and someone else chose a day and someone else chose a day and someone else chose a day and someone else chose a day and someone else chose a day and someone else chose a day and someone else chose a day to be the time of the end, maybe the end will never come.icon7.gif

You have just provided the proof that Atomichorror's assertion is correct. If puny humans could foil god's an simply by suggesting a date, then he is not much of a god. Therefore, predicting something that apparently only god can know can't stop that thing from happening.

Using my astounding powers of prophecy I'm going to make the prediction that the rapture will never happen.

You might make a lot of money in the meantime, but you will be tragically disappointed in the end.

    *********************************************************************************
1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.

Only if I'm wrong. But isn't that the case with everything in life ;)

    Mt 16:28

“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

Jesus thought he would be back soon. But he was wrong, because he wasn't the Son of god, just a man who died and stayed dead. But as the decades wore on after his death without a Second Coming, Christians realised they'd have to retool their idea of his return and ignore his claim that he'd be back soon.

Ah the old selective quote trick, trying to pretend the very next verses don't describe the Transfiguration.

"After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus."

Then all we have to do is keep on predicting it and we can put it off indefinitely? That seems to make all the signs and portants Christians are expecting rather redundant either way. No, if the rapture is innately non-predictable, then any claims at prediction are not, in fact, based upon knowledge (be it empirical or revelatory), therefore the rapture could occur on the very day 'predicted' and still be said to have occurred with nobody having had foreknowledge. Camping having guessed the day should have no effect on whether it actually goes ahead, because guessing is not knowledge.

Rapture: Harold Camping issues new apocalypse date

Harold Camping said it had "dawned" on him that God would spare humanity "hell on Earth for five months" and the apocalypse would happen on 21 October.
