Have to say from listening to McGinley last night as guest on the sky sports commentry was great. Lovely guy and really down to earth.. Honest guy and gave some nice insights of the guy he his and what other players do be thinking. Would love to see him win another few competitions.. Has seemed to struggle for a long time now. Heard he was a brilliant footballer when he was younger too and decided to follow the golfing route..

    Whats your opinions of him??

Funny, I always loved him as a player - if he could putt he would have won a Major somewhere along the line if you ask me... but I was actually disappointed in him as a pundit last night. Repeated himself alot and said alot of generic things about the play in general.

He's a smart man though and has been round the block so I would expect him to improve and probably eventually become a great pundit.

Hmmm, I stand corrected - Paul gave some great insight into Charlie Wi's swing and general development as a player earlier and he's just very honestly admitted that some tour players purposely don't shout 'Fore' (and instruct their caddies to do likewise) for an errant shot in the hope they get a 'lucky' bounce off a fan.

Nothing we didn't know, but alarming to hear it confirmed from a tour veteran.

I have enjoyed him now also over the last few nights. Very insightful and plenty of
name dropping for the Irish Open, the more the better.
Also seems like many people would be very happy to have him as a captain in a future
Ryder Cup, which is great to see because i think he would make a terrific captain.

    Somewhat prescient.

Anyway, now that Paul has turned 50, I presume he'll play in some of the Senior Tour events. Does he have to go though a qualification process to be eligible to play or will his overall record get him an automatic card?

Tried qualifying for the US Seniors Tour without success

shot 85 in the first round. That must have been tough for him. I really like the guy, but not sure he really needs competitive golf the way some of the others do.
