    Hi,

I am going to book an appointment with specsavers or vision express or someone to get some contact lenses fitted. I plan to then buy the prescription online.

I have astigmatism and plan (at least initially) to use the glasses solely for sport.

Is buying contact lenses online a good idea?
And will specsavers etc give the prescription necessary to do that or do they force you to stick with them?

You mean buy the contacts online?

There is nothing wrong with buying contacts online once they are of the same brand. There are plenty of threads here about which company is good or bad so best to have a read through those.

Even thought you have some element of astigmatism it does not mean your contacts will have a correction for astigmatism as the optician might see during your contact lens assesment that you can get by ok without correction for astigmatism.

And finally why would you use your glasses for sport when you wear contacts? There is a higher risk of injury to you or damage to your glasses while engaging in sport.

Oops, I meant to say I plan to use the contacts solely for sport (at least in the begining).

I thought that's what you meant about wearing contacts for sport. Good luck with the assessment and enjoy wearing the contacts. Remember if you feel the lenses are a bit gritty after a few hours wearing there are other types available that allow more wetting and oxygen to the eye.

I've been buying contacts online for about 4 years now, tried a few different websites find Daysoft excellent. V reasonable and quick service.
However I always get a regular eyetest to check my prescription hasn't changed.
