Looking for somewhere to play friday 2 weeks june 3rd. Has anyone played Borris or Castlecomer and whats it like? Have heard the other 3 in kildare are good. Might give Carlow a shot but its a good bit more expensive to play. Not playing long at all so not looking for anything too "challenging" :)

    Picking from these
    Borris
    Castlecomer
    Athy
    Craddockstown
    Woodlands

I've not played Borris but I've heard good things about it. It's not an 18 hole track.

Of the others, here are some links to photographs, if that helps:

    Castlecomer
    Athy
    Craddockstown
    Woodlands

In terms of a good course that's not too challenging, I'd suggest Athy followed by Woodlands. Castlecomer is a lovely course but you might struggle on the top 9 which are tree bound. Craddockstown has a fair bit of water, and is a strong track.

I love comer. It's a tough course but some of the holes are really memorable. It's a Pat Ruddy course too. A bit of attrition would be expected as Kevin stated as the top 9 are on the side of a tree bound hill. Worth a look anyway

Borris is in Co. Carlow and Castlecomer is in Co. Kilkenny so your post is a bit mixed up?

Athy is a lovely, honest course. I played it for the first time recently and I found it a really enjoyable course to play. Pretty much everything is out in front of you to see (not many tricks) but the (smallish) greens are well defended so it's a decent test too. Lovely people there (played them an an Inter-Club match).

Borris is a nice track too. It's a 9 hole course (well, it actually has 10 holes), tree lined. Enjoyable course to play and I played there a lot when I was learning the game. Not overly challenging in that there's nothing impossible or silly required but you will be blocked out by trees if off-line so it's not simple either. They have redesigned some of the greens over the years so they are more difficult too.

Won't go wrong with either of them IMO.

There's a 9 hole pay and play at deerpark in Carlow beside the ;main' course. Have you played that? (not sure what it's like).
