Preliminary tax query...

Hi folks, Im hoping someone can answer my questions here...

I have a rental apt and I paid preliminary tax of €1000 for 2010 in March, which I do every year. However my tenants in 2010 were absolute nightmares and when they left I had to gut the apt and re decorate the whole place hence I had reciepts for work carried out and new furniture.Anyway,I have an accountant mate who I submit reciepts to every year and he works out how much I owe. I got a letter from the accountant which said " You owe €200 to revenue of which you have paid €1000 in preliminary tax" . Does this mean the revenue owes me €800 and if so, do I ring them and ask for the cheque or do I have to wait til the end of Oct til I recieve it? Also I have a tax clearence cert which say it expires in August.I thought they are valid til Oct 31st each year!Am I wrong?
Finally,My accountant mate also said to drop in my interest loan statement for 2010 into his office. Do I just call my mortgage provider to send out that info to me or how do I go about getting it?
ps, I cant ask my accountant mate as he is on his way to Oz for a few months so any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance....

    Hi,

The deadline for filing returns is October but you can lodge your return early if you want to get your refund early.

Yes, call your mortgage provider for a copy of your interest statement. They usually send out one automatically at the end of the year though.

Tax clearance certs, I think, run for a year (or 3, can't remember) from when you applied for them so presumably you first applied in August and it's expiring 12 months later.

    cheers,
thanks for the quick reply. Thing is ive already paid the grand in March in preliminary tax so if I ring the revenue will they see this and issue a refund or is there another form I have to fill out. Im just useless when it comes to this kind of stuff:o I will have to have this sorted before August or my tax clearence will expire.
    thanks
