Eastern Europe in 3-4 weeks doesn't sound like a detail plan. I travelled most of European (Eastern/Western/Central/Whatever) countries and can give you some advises, but do you have any preferences where to go and where not to?
If you stick to UE countries, you shouldn't have any problems with your safety. And I would do 1-2 countries in that time.

    Sounds excellent.

Going outside the European Union will seriously increase your value-for-money factor (except Croatia), but doesn't offer you quite the same level of comfort.

Personally, I highly recommend Macedonia (particularly Ohrid), Serbia and Slovenia in the Balkans - I've also heard lots of good things about Albania but never been. Southern Poland is cool, but Warsaw is pretty forgettable. Ukraine is nice, people are friendlier in the west, but Crimea is definitely worth a visit too. Of the Baltics, I preferred Estonia, a lot less showy and more chilled, but your mileage may vary. Finally, underrate Germany, and don't forget Moldova :)

Try hit slovenia and croatia if you can

I had my best experiences in Lake Bled and Split/Hvar

A few boys I'm friends with went interrailing last August, one of them edited a short movie together of it all, can't say it'll have many tips but at least it'll help give you an insight of what your trip ahead might have in store! :-)
