Replacement Charger for a Mac Laptop

Left the charger in a hotel in Brussels so need to replace it pronto.
Looking at apple.ie seems to be serious quality issues with the replacement chargers

I saw a quy at the conference I was at with a Kensington 120watt charger with a v long cable complete with the special magnetic ending for charging his Macbook Pro

Any ideas on where he might have sourced such a rig

I think you mean the Kensington adapter http://us.kensington.com/html/13874.html I'm not sure its available in Europe though

As for the bad reviews of the apple version, its exactly the same as the one that came with the laptop. They last about 3-4 years generally, but you would be amazed how many people get the wrong one ( too low wattage ) and it blows in a week!!

The quality of Apple's chargers has improved a bit. They had terrible issues with the cables they used to just split / break and internally short circuit.

It struck me as they wanted something that looked pretty rather than worked well.

In fact, it's very unlike Apple to produce bad hardware. The charge issue was ridiculous.
