There's stuff called RoofKote on the market. any good paint store or DIY chain will do it. It's not that expensive. I'm a painter and decorater and have used it once about 5 yrs ago and regularly pass by the roof. It seems to have held pretty well. As with all jobs, preparation is everything. The roof has to be thoroughly power washed down and wouldn't worry if takes the old colouring outa the old tiles. The cleaner the better. If your doing it your self, you can hire a cherry picker diesel lift for about 250 for a day. It's better value to take it for 4-5 days. May cost 400 or so but you can haggle. These guys are Plant hire companies are doing No business and creamed it it in the boom. Be as ruthless as ya can on them with price. My big advise here is to use a cherry picker (not to mistaken with a scissor lift which just goes up vertically). it'stoo dangerous to power wash a roof by just standing on the roof. Power washer can slip off the roof and unexpectly trip and pull you off the roof with it. Stay safe.

P.S - I just seen other guys post here about weathersheild. It wouldn't last any time on a roof. Roofkote is a thinned pourous stain more then a paint. It stains the roof tiles. It comes with a catalyst hardener that you add to it from what i remember. DON'T waste your time with weathersheild. 20 yrs experience painting. Trust me.

Most of the "long-life" roof coatings are elasticated - they need to be as there is so much movement in a roof. If you want the paint to last on a roof you must go with a paint that is flexible. Mathys in the UK do a good range of flexible coatings. In Ireland two companies that I know do it are Pat McDonnell Paints and also Paintshop.ie.
    Good luck with it

Is Paintshop.ie part of the Pat McDonnell group ?

I have a small confession to make, this is my company we have been in business for the last 10 years, great track record, there is a 15 year guarantee with the product, and 13€ per m2 all in power washing, primer, and painting. mobile nr. on web-page, o and its a German product water based acrylic to be exact, and the best machine is an airless sprayer, most good hire shops carry them

If there is any one out there looking for a business opportunity I am at present looking for people to take on a licence agreement with my company, any where except Tipp that is. This is not a franchise, just become part of the team.

Whatever you paint it with, either paint a dozen spare tiles so they will weather the same as your roof, or at least make sure you keep some spare paint. Roofs need replacement tiles from time to time and the likelihood of the paint you use today still being available 5/10 years down the line is remote.
