Probably could bargain this chap to 700 or so, but i'm just wondering are 25's any good or what do ye make of them? Couple of months tax an a years NCT so it looks like a decent shot to me.

Hopefully gonna take it for a drive tomorrow or Sunday so i'll have a bit more info, but any input from boardsies will be much appreciated.

    Just back to this
    - I dunno if the 25s were the DOHC 1.1 but I'm 95% sure they were.
    - usual bla bla about HG, at those miles if there is no sign of oil contamination or coolant contamination it's probably fine.
    - A rub of the hand under the inlet manifold would be worthwhile doing to check the gasket, that will show if it's leaking out, if it's leaking in that won't show it up but if it runs fine from cold it should be ok. The inlet manifold gasket is cheap to get but labour wise you're looking at an hour ish.
    - check boot door up by the roof area for rust on the chassis, very thin metal up there so bad corrosion is not good longterm.
    - trailing arm bushes are worth looking at, as it's NCTd they are more than likely fine, they are more or less a change item at 50/60k miles, not a huge job by any means.
    - the 1.1K isn't that torquey so the R65 gearbox shouldn't be whiney, if it is there may be less than 10K miles left in her, big job really, worth more than the car
    - two working key fobs and the EKA code would be nice, if there are no working fobs and no EKA code with the existing owner you'll need to source the EKA code online or at an ex dealer, not mission impossible stuff by any stretch of the imagination :)

Add says it's due a timing belt and a pump too by association, I'd make sure there isn't an existing problem that they are trying to explain away by saying it's due a belt. That's being OTT cautious, they may well be just very honest.

The K4s are not known as belt snappers, the pumps leak before the belt goes on ones that were not given the recommended belt/pump services.

Add says offer €500, at that price if the car is sound it's well worth buying, a years tax and a timing belt, water pump and oil service and some luck and it's a years cheap motoring 'till next NCT. Seat covers on it are utter gash, I'd have a peak underneath them to see are the seats ok.

seeing as the guy mentions offer of 500 in his ad, not much point in overpaying him! Aim lower.

These are very basic aren't they? unless you're caught up on the year, wouldn't an older Japanese car be more sensible?

Yep, windy windows etc. €500 won't buy too much stuff NCT'd for a year if the OP wants a 1.1 sized engine though.
