    Hi.

I am looking for a new android to replace my g1 - I really want it as a replacement for a tablet too so it needs to have a big screen.

I am thinking nexus s on vodafone, but could i move it to three for free?

I would say the SGS II is the "best". Spec wise it blows everything out of the water. It's a great phone to use, super slick, very zippy. Even though the screen is as large as it gets @ 4.3", wither it can replace your tablet will depend.

I can get serious work done on the iPad, the SGS II is still a phone, at the end of the day. I still prefer web browsing and e-mailing on the iPad. What tab do you have, what do us use it for?

    Thanks.

I have a macbook pro and a g1 - so i cant justify spending money on a tablet.

Can barely justify spending money on a new phone - but at 4.3" I think its worth it, i dont mind reading ebooks on my g1 which is smaller.

Where would I buy the SGS2?

The SGS2 isn't out yet in Ireland. It's likely to be out sometime in early July. You should also look at the HTC Sensation too. If you're looking to root the phone and put custom ROM's etc on it then the Galaxy S2 blows it out of the water.

Yes, with the extra ram and better screen I think the SGSII seems to be the one. I do prefer HTC in general though.

But I will have to wait and see the payg price.

I would say it will be 500 euro ish on payg - which is very very expensive. Actually it will probably be more expensive than that as meteor is still selling the galaxy s at 450.

3ireland are currently busy phoning all those due an upgrade to offer them the SGS1. I suspect they are trying to clear stock before they offer the SGS2.

3UK are offering the SGS2 with the $35/month package for £130.

It's £500 sim free, I'd say you'll be looking at €600 payg at the very least!

****ing awesome phone, the only thing I can fault it on is battery life (which would be the same on any other similarly specced phone)

    Fecking hell thats expensive.

Might have to see the price drops on the other phones first, although they didnt drop much on the desire.

No doubt the price is eye watering, but this is a phone that can go toe-to-toe with the all conquering iPhone 4 - and win. That sort of capability and power has a price.
Honestly, I can not compare this to the Desire in any way. I hated my Desire, so much so that I went back to using an iPhone 3G! Im not a major lover of Sense, either, touchWiz seems to be a bit more lightweight, in comparison. I would seriously take a bit longer to save the extra cash to go for the SGS II.

Im still tweaking and modding the phone, but nothing seems to slow it down.

600 euro though? eye gouging more than eye watering.

Will wait till they are announced on irish payg and see how people are finding them 2-3 weeks after getting them which is when they should be on irish networks.
