    Hi,

Just had NCT. Lamda was .91 where it should be between .97 and 1.03.

    What does that mean exactly?

    Cheers.

to do with the exhaust readings
could be lambda sensor gone or leak in exhaust or something related (catalytic converter)

hahahahaha.......... I thought 50 in the ash tray was supposed to swing it. In fact, I remember when it used to be 40. Know someone who did it and I saw the car flaked out in the middle of traffic a few days later. Pretty lousy that craic!

Your engine is probably running rich, or you've a vacuum leak somewhere. Check hoses and unions in engine bay for security and spray WD40 around any suspect areas and note any rise in engine revs while engine running.
Alternatively lambda sensor could be fouled and not switching correctly. A diagnostic plug in would identify this fault.

Well, replaced the sensor and all the emmissions dropped to normal levels and the car is driving smoothly now where it was previously hesitating a bit on acceleration.

Lamda reading has gone a little high now and the mechanic says it's 50/50 whether it will pass on that one thing.

When idling the rev counter moves and the engine huffs slightly........says it may just need a air flow meter as car idles perfect when the meter is unplugged. Says it's either that or the throttle body.....hmmm cars are a pain .......
