Transferring JSA from one county to another: waiting time?

Hey, just wondering if anyone knows how long it would take to transfer a JSA payment when you move house? I've recently moved and I know someone who was waiting months and months without payment when he transferred it to a different county.

I'm scared I'll be left for ages with no payment at all, and wondering if it's less hassle to just travel back and forth across the country once a week? Does anyone here have any experience with this?

I did this last year. I cant remember the procedure for it but I was waiting about 2 weeks maybe 3, but it wasn't very long. I'm moving counties again in 3 weeks time, so I'm about to go through it all again

Okay, 2-3 weeks isn't tooooo bad. Can you remember if you have to bring all your details and paperwork in again or if it's a case of just transferring it?

Tbh I cant fully remember everything. I do know that I had to go to my local office and tell them I was moving and then I went to the office of where i was moving to and give them proof of my move ie. bring my rent book as my proof of address.

I think you should go into your local office anyway and find out what to do. They might even be able to tell you how long you could be waiting

As it takes two or three weeks to transfer, would anyone know anything about sign on dates and moving?

I am hoping to move this week or weekend, call into the new dole office on monday next. But i have a sign on date a week after that in cork. Can i transfer the sign on date to galway?

Anyone know? Probably not a good question but i thought i would ask here to see if anyone knows. Probably call into the dole office later today.

If it takes an usually long time, and you have no payment what so ever, you can apply for SWA payment off your new local community welfare officer untill the payment is sorted out.
