Hi, Do group water schemes need to be registered for tax? Was just asked for a tax clearance certificate for a local scheme by the council before they would pay out the subsidy. Anyone come across this before? Thanks in advance.

No they don't.

That's a weird one- I think you may have just got a newbie on the phone- happens all the time.

If you get a query like that ask them for the relevant provisions they are asking for the tax clearance cert under.
