Have been loking at 2 in particular

    1. From a dealer 2008 with 28000 bales €22000 incl vat
    2. From a dealer 2008 with 12000 bales €26500 incl vat

We wouldnt be doing many bales in the year possibly 3000

Is the 16000 less bales worth payin €4500 for

suppose it would depend on what work has been carried out, the one that has the 28000 bales done must be nearly due new chains i would say? have chains been replaced, what about roller bearings, are they from a dealer and are you getting a bit of a warranty

    Both have been serviced
Is there anything else to loko out for besides chains and bearings?

Dealer hasnt mentioned warranty, still waiting to hear back about a baler we want to trade in

What kind of warranty 6 months?

well saying it serviced is fairly general, find out exactly what work was carried out. the pickup would be another area. I suppose most dealers would probably only back it up for the season. I would be inclined to maybe bring a lad with you to check out a baler, a local mechanic or maybe a contractor if yu know one and give it a good check, its a lot of money so your as well to be sure about it.

    cheers for the advice

If everything was mechanically sound with both

Would you advise paying the €4500 for 16000 less bales?

hmm tough one, would depend I suppose on the shape of both, if i was hoping to hang onto baler i suppose i might be tempted to pay that bit extra for hte fresher machine..but if someone i trusted gave the all clear to the other machine then i would have no issue going with it..i suppose at the amount of bales for a 08 machine its been used for contracting , probably both have.

go with the lower bale count, you are baleing 3000 bales a year that works out that you will have that baler for 850 euros a year for 5 years until it catches up with the other baler iykwim.

    Fair point.

Its a big outlay for us, it really depends on what kind of money we get for our own.

having trouble with the netting system on our own, have had guy out to have a look at it, but hasnt solved the problem.

Wouldnt like to sell it to a farmer hence trading it in, they might have better luck at fixing it

Either that or will just struggle on with our own and keep an eye out for another one, better price in a years maybe?
