    OK found the prob,
when u have the boot option when installing,
    type
    xorg=safe

    this resolves it,
its an issue with the installation and the graphics card

I am not familiar with linux,
    am just trying it out.

I have a linksys wireless g notebook adapter (pmcia)
Can i get this working with linux ?
    If so how?
    Any advice appreciated

would you not try something a bit more mainstream, what brought you to Pardus, its a nice distro but they have their own way of doing things, there own built package management systems etc, so with that they have a small community to get some help from, if you like the kde desktop they use, i recommend for new user to linux, linux mint 10 kde, built on ubuntu with kde desktop environment, you shouldnt have any problems with drivers, and there is tons of help with it, pardus wont offer you anything more

They've changed around the desktop layout in the latest version of Ubuntu (11.04). A lot of people don't like it so much, others love it. I tried out Kubuntu 11.04 (Ubuntu with KDE desktop) and liked it a lot. Another option is Xubuntu (Ubuntu + Xfce desktop).

Mint is a great distro though, and very similar to Ubuntu (based of it actually).

    thanks guys,
    I downloaded linux mint,
I will let u know how it goes,

I finally thought it might be in my best interest to try out linux seeing as I have never been or will never be a fan of windows!

Is it easy to customise / do stuff in linux as a beginner ?
Is it necessary to learn how to write code/run command line code in linux or is this no longer necessary.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance towards linux and appreciate any helpful advice you guys may be able to give

Not necessary at all with Mint or even with Ubuntu. However, learning a few commands is useful because it's often a very quick way to do things. You don't have to learn any programming code.
