Working in France for the Summer and Finding Accommodation

    Hello!

    Me and a couple of friends will be studying in France next year so we're looking to go to France for the summer, work and learn French. We're trying to find jobs at the moment and I was wondering where the best places would be to look? I heard Montpellier is student friendly and I heard of a friend who got a job in a pub in Biarritz. We're just looking for a city preferably not too expensive with jobs with medium level French!

    Also it would be great if we could set up a job beforehand so does anyone know of a good website for french jobs and/or places that are hiring?

    And lastly accommodation, would it be better to rent for the summer or live in a hostel and does anyone know what its like trying to find cheap short term accommodation?

    Thanks :)

    Hey,
    The south is a beautiful part of the country, just be aware that their pronunciation of words is slightly different to the northern way that you would be used to. You quickly get used it, it's sort of like this
    du pain--->du pen
    cinq---->cenq
    quinze---->kenz
    and so on.
    And a pain au chocolate is a chocolatine, which I remember using a lot.

    Here are some job sites that might be useful for summer jobs:

    It is difficult to get a job in Biarritz in my experience. My spoken French is reasonable enough (I am half French) and I lived in Biarritz in Summer 2007 but it was really hard to find a job.

    Keep an eye on the annonces here if you want to assess your chances, but be aware that many non native French speakers can find it a challenge to find Summer work in Biarritz. If you can surf, and you have enough money to spend the Summer, then enjoy.
