Panasonic FZ40/45 Flash not working

Last week while on holiday my flash stopped working. I was taking some photos in low light, took 2 and then on the third no flash. Not sure if the bulb has blown or something to do with the electrics. Only bought it last November and have not used the flash much.

I have read that if you close the flash too soon after taking a photo it may malfunction. Also anybody know how to do a hard reset for this model?
    Cheers

Shouldn't it be covered by warranty?

Yea but I bought it online, it's the North American model, warranty only good in US and Puerto Rico. Apparently many camera shops here will charge 100 Euro just to look at it.

    That's unfortunate with the warranty.
I read your thread on the other forum and a hard reset seems like a nice idea to try but it sounds like some error with a switch or something (if it is indeed because it was closed too soon).
I do repairs myself if you are interested PM me and Ill see if I can help you out.

Thanks for the offer Zerohamster. I have taken the battery out, will leave it our for a few days and see when I put it back in if the camera goes back to the factory settings, clutching at straws maybe lol.
    I'll PM you also, cheers.

They should still cover it, why not just post it back?

Not sure if correct but I think you would need to post from/to a US address to be covered/they wont post outside the US. I believe it is to stop grey market imports (open to correction though).
If it is as CabanSail says then it would be worth checking out as postage would come to less than a non warranty repair.

Cheers for the replies guys. It was a company in the UK, but the model is the US one. My brother, who has bought stuff from them before says you need to return all in the same box it was delivered. The box is long gone, and I have a new lens cap, so they could use that an excuse not to replace it I would imagine.
