Your wallet will be lightweight after you buy it too!

Meh, nothing that hasn't been done already and done better. I've worked with cameras that size previously, reasonable for observation, rubbish for recording.
Either go for the cheaper option and get the ATC9K or the better option and get the GoPro Hero.

30 Frames per second isn't that great for when recording lots of movement. Great if your a sniper, not so good running across a field, image turns to one big blur mainly.

I'd be one to take the mounts from the package and use them for other equipment :P

Headcams are better, guncams tend to record a lot of the ground.

Dex (or anyone in the know of course), any idea how the Contour GPS holds up? Was going to get the hero HD, but the Contour caught my eye, wondering if it'd be worth the extra 50 or so...

The hero HD seems to come with more mounting options and waterproof capability at a better price, but the contour has some nice features like gps tracking and remote viewfinder over bluetooth with an iOS device or an android smartphone (just seems like less mounting options come with it I think, and the waterproof case isn't out yet I think)

i have the contour hd and it is a very nice camera, the new models have some nice improvements, the quality is very good and i have had great results on all my trips to the uk using it, there are also plenty of mounting options if you look around http://stuntcams.com/shop/mounts-contourhd-accessories-c-22_40.html

I haven't used it, but the GoPro is a tank. You can literally bounce it off a wall and it'll record every second of you doing it at 60fps. Waterproof, shockproof and, crucially, bb-proof.
You can get add-on screens and whatnot for it, but when are you really going to be viewing your camera feed in the middle of a game? I've been toying with the idea of getting one myself for some time now. I'm horrendously tempted.

As far as I can tell the imaging options are pretty much the same for each, I guess it's going to come down to how far I'm willing to stretch with the budget, but it's safe to say I'm torn!

I know the GoPro has become somewhat of an industry standard in adventure sports in the last year or so. It rapidly became the go-to unit for skiers/snowboarders, skydivers, MTX/MTB riders etc., simply because it's so sturdy and gives a great, wide angle shot at HD res. It's also becoming pretty damn popular for motorsports because it's small and light enough to mount inside dummy air vents or even right onto the bodywork.

€14 from your friendly chinese bargain basement retailer. Obviously not super quality but that was total price with 4GB card and shipping. If you spend 60 or so that should get you all you need for a guncam. As the others have said, most of the footage it shoots will be of the floor anyways.

On the topic of going for headcams, I was going to do it, but then I realised that whenever I sighted a gun my head would be 15-20* twisted right, so the footage would be useless, but if I counteracted this with the mounting the rest of what I shot would be muck. Might buy a helmet and setup a mount with a wideangle, see how that does.

I've had a headcam blown out before, I would love a new one that could withstand a BB
