Why does Britain have files on the Dublin/Monaghan bombings?

I was reading about the request for Britain to release the files from the Dublin/Monaghan bombings and i got thinking, both attacks were in the republic so why does another country have files about the bombing? I'm sure there's an obvious answer i haven't thought of but i can't think of a reason. Anyone know why?

They have files on the UVF or which ever group did it. Probably the same guys who did the Miami Showband killings.

There are many who believe that the British assisted loyalists paramilitaries in those attacks which is likely recorded in their own intelligence files.

I'd be more concerned as to why relevant Garda Síochána and Department of Justice files disappeared as well as why the investigation into the murders of dozens of Irish and foreign citizens was wound down so quickly.

The British government endorsed it. The Irish government turned a blind eye.
Politicians are corrupt.

This isn't 9/11 (or 11/9 as it should be) or Roswell (apparently the Russians trying an Orson Wells job on the yanks ), or Leprechauns.

This is factual.
The British and Irish governments know who was behind it. They were not directly responsible, but they know who did it.
