Why not Seamie Heffernan?

Amongst all the talk of the next Ballydoyle No1, there is no mention of Seamie Heffernan. Why is he considered second rate by Ballydoyle and the racing press alike? Is he that bad? Has he not got the head for being No1?

    Because he is awful.

He's not even the best jock in the stable, let alone the best man for the job.

what's awful is your reply -chap is 39 years old - has a very specific deal with ballydoyle , and a specific purpose for being there . Look it up .
2 derby winners 2 oaks winners guineas winners and more stakes group and listed winners than most champion jockeys have .

Big ride for Joseph O'Brien tomorrow gets the leg up on Roderic O'Connor in the Guineas. That'll be his first group 1 I believe if he wins.

Colm O'Donoghue is better than him and AP O'Brien agrees with me. Heffernan has no ambition and no balls.

Can't think of the name but anyone remember the amateur in Ballydoyle who beat fat Joey in a race last year that stopped him from winning the Apprentice title and he went straight to England then. Disgrace.

AOB is talented trainer but hate the sight of him tbh.

Yeah that is him, last race in Dundalk and JOB came 2nd which meant there was a tie for the title. Saw an article he left for more rides, no doubt he was outcasted to an extent in Ballydoyle.

he might be better now ,as i stated he is 39 yrs old ,so i think he has realised his ambitions .please google him and report back

as stated he has a specific purpose in that set up and if you want to know what it is ,again ask aiden -

while your at it ask other jockeys would they swap places with him i think they would .

you shouldnt comment or slate people you know nothing about

I think this year could be something of an audition, with a permanent jockey chosen in the winter

Kid's too tall, won't be able to do the weights as he grows up.

Piggot was tall also ,and now young Obrien has a classic under his belt

I think Joseph O'Brien's future lies as assistant to his dad. I doubt he'll be making a career in the saddle, weight will be too much of an issue and I can hardly see him going down the punishing road of becoming a National Hunt jockey.

Does anyone else think that Seamus Heffernan has a good chance tomorrow with Misty For Me? She's a dual Group 1 winner from last season and has the beating of Together on that form. I'd ignore her run in the English Guineas as she might've needed it. Together doesn't seem to win very often and was beaten twice at The Curragh last year. I also think she had the edge of fitness over Misty For Me at Newmarket. 10/1 looks a reasonable price.

    Any thoughts on the race?

I believe that's what he wants to do but Daddy won't let him. He could take a leave out of Danny Mullins book. He's banging in the winners since he switched to NH.

That is his only option if he wants to be a jockey. He won't be a flat jockey in a years time.

Seamie has problems with arthritis for a while and this may be part of the reason he was not given a bigger job this year, i dont know how it is affecting him but i've been told he does suffer from it. Although he is riding well and cant say anything bad about him,he rides to the instructions and i'm sure the winter on the all weather was to keep him ticking over for the spare rides

Colm has ability but he is not a big name which is what they want, they want to be able to say the champion jockey said he's the best he's ever sat on would it mean as much if it came from Colm or Ryan?

Joseph days as a jockey are numbered and i cant see the stewards letting the riding over weight continue it doesnt make sense. He got what he wanted today he cant be there next season cause of his weight. Theres nothing wrong with a tall jockey if they can control there weight like Richard Hughes but Joseph isn't able.

I'd love to see Fallon or Moore there with young Gary Carroll as the young jockey picking up spare rides

Theres another Group One winner for Seamie.
    Id say Moore is sick.

Together really seems like a horse who just doesn't want to get her head in front. She's traded so low in running most of her races but just comes up short.

Now Seamie has done me a couple of fabvours this weekend and in the past (Frozen Fire :D) but I have to say he is useless, he is lucky to have such a good job where he gets at least 1 G1 win every season.

As for Sean Levey, glad he's out of there, he was/is an even worse jockey, total disaster, I actually stopped backing anything he rode last season.

As for Ballydoyle getting a stable jockey, I'm hoping I win the Derby on Recital and that gets my back as flavour of the monmth with Coolmore!

Kieren, there's more chance you'll get the Henry Cecil job back than get the O'Brien No.1 job back again. :D

I've got no complaints about Seamie. He did me a very nice favour with Misty For Me today. I got 9/1 with Ladbrokes this morning. Happy days!

You're quite right. Back in November he couldn't even do 9st for a ride at Dundalk, went off a pound overweight. So no real prospects of being a flat jockey in the long term.

As for Seamie Heffernan, it's obvious that Ballydoyle don't see him as anything more than a reliable member of the team but never to be their top man. It's kinda strange really because himself and Colm O'Donoghue have done a great job for the yard so would it have hurt to give one of them a crck at the top job? Even for one season? I think Colm O'Donoghue is a good jockey who could have been given a chance.

They obviously want Ryan Moore in the longer term, whether they'll get him is another matter. Moore is a good jockey but has the personality of a snail, and I'm not convinced that he'll ever be as good as Fallon was in his prime, or even Johnny Murtagh for that matter.
