I've a set of Senn HD 25 I's im looking to part with, excellent set of headphones for mixing,dj'ing and TV work, 35mm jack, 5ft cable.
Minor comsetic damage to them on the leather cushioning on head band but doesn't effect the sonic qualities.

Let them go for €100 if you're interested?

    Hi,
You could look at Sony MDR 7509 hd , I've being using these sets for the last 2 years, tracking primarly and mix checking. They are at the €230 -€260 range and the curly phone cable might not suit everybody. But they sound acurate and not hard to listen to for long periods of time. Aso cumfy to wear and closed back design with good isolation.

Ill also recommend the Sennheiser HD-25's.

For mixing use Beyerdynamic DT 100 and for the person you are recording (especially vox) use AKG K240. If you don't have a good set of mixing monitors and good set of final mix ref monitors then buy a cheap pair of sennheiser headphones. On a budget you'll do fine with this setup for demos.

You won't go wrong. Good luck!

701's cheaper, different colour and dont have a detachable cable, the only difference.

    just saved 150 euro

Here is a pretty definitive review of many models:

By the way, Beyerdynamic DT100 are awful sounding. They are a popular studio item because they're hard to break. DT150 are far better sonically.

    ATH-M50

Got a set myself about a month ago and I can't recommend them highly enough. Made a huge difference to my mixing. Wish I'd gotten them a few years ago!

Yep they really are great. Outstanding sound quality and reasonably priced. Can't go wrong!

    PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING.

I never said I use them for mixing. Presumption is the mother of all f ups. I mix on two different monitors. People on boards seem to judge very quickly without thinking.

You didn't say you used them, but you did tell the OP to use them. It's there in black and white. All DaDumTish was saying is that he wouldn't agree with your advice. He's entitled to his opinion, no?

    Maybe relax a small bit...

I read exactly what you typed.

BUT - anyone with experiance knows the dt-100 has no low end ,
and using headphones is one way for a project / home engineer particularly with a dodgy mix room
    to judge low end -

so I said if i knew someone used a dt-100 to mix, i would avoid this engineer.

it is bad advice to advocate the dt-100 for mixing.
and given that you dont actually use them - its hypocritical as well.

and i use Focal be 6 solos and NS-10's to mix , along with the ATH-M50 headphones -
a phone you could do a mix on if you are careful , its very good .
takes a few weeks to break in though .

I wouldn't touch DT-100's with a barge pole. They don't sound good, they are heavy and uncomfortable to wear and are too expensive for what they are.

If I was buying headphones for recording or mixing I'd go for the Beyerdynamic DT 770's. They sound great and are really comfortable for long periods of time.

If I was looking for something to use in the studio as well as something I could use with the iPod or whatever I'd look at Grado Labs SP-80's.

Absolutely everyone here has a different ear when it comes to judgement. If each of you want to have a go at me go ahead as it is quite amusing and nearly like being back in secondary school. I'm actually shocked at the way people write on boards.

I simply won't be posting here again as the pettiness is just not my thing. Consider me out of this thread.

Except when it comes to DT-100s. I think we can all agree that they sound awful, right?
