Slight popping feeling on clutch return

    Hi guys,

Just wondering if someone could give me a bit of advice on an issue that just started today with my Corsa. When I am bringing the clutch pedal back up from engaging the gears, there seems to be what feels like a small pop under the pedal just as it is reaching the return position. I'm not hearing any sort of grinding or anything out of the ordinary, but can very clearly feel this under my foot when it happens.

The car was only fully serviced last week (so that hopefully rules out any sort of clutch failure) and there doesn't seem to be any impact this is having on the actual driving of the car, but I have no idea what is causing it.

Does anyone know what this is, and if its something that needs to be looked at asap or is it ok to continue driving with it? Like I said, the car itself is driving fine and there is no abnormal noise when using the clutch but it has me a bit spooked.

The flux capacitor could be worn

I had something similar happen and I couldn't figure out what it was. Turned out the floor mat was pushed up too high and the rubber on the pedal was catching on the way down and popping back into place on the way back up

I must check that actually, but I'm not sure thats whats causing it. The pedal is basically free from obstruction the whole way up, but I'm getting this slight pop feeling when its just coming back in to position.

Had a chance to check it now and thats exactly what it was! The mat was just a bit too far up so I moved it and no more popping. Thanks for that man.

No worries. I felt a bit silly when I realised what it was so I'm glad it's not just me. I was also glad I hadn't taken it to a garage. That would have been really embarrasing.

Its not so obvious though when it happens. When I got to work yesterday I didn't think I'd make it back, thought the clutch was gone. Threw the symptoms in to google and a load of forum results were coming back with suggestions of "master cylinders" being worn out and all sorts. :D

Then it turned out to be the ****ing mat.
