Air Conditioning blowing TOO cold

    Hi,

I have a 2007 Passat and over the last few weeks the climate control/air conditioning appears to be blowing really cold even if the temp is set to 21 Degrees which is what it is normally at.

The air temp does increase if you turn up the dial to say 28/29 but its like the temperature sensor is off and thinks the car is warmer than it actually is. Does not always happen but happening more often now it seems.

I've also noticed the other day that there seemed to be a pretty large pool of water under the car after I had driven it for about 2 hours - was definitely water and not oil and did not come from the coolant system so I can only assume it came from the air conditioning. I know a small about of water would be normal under the car but in this case the water could be seen even before moving the car as it had flowed out but the sides :)

I've googled and most problems with AC seem to be it not blowing cold air - I seem to have the opposite!

    Any ideas ?

I had same problem on Saab 9-5. Temperature sensor was blocked by dust. After quick clean everything was working fine. I don't now where the sensor is located on your Passat though.

just turn it off...21 degrees would normally entail having the heater on rather than the air con...

Thanks but that kind of defeats the purpose :)

I have to say I would never again buy a car without AC, we may not get really hot summers here but I like the fact that you can set it to a comfortable temp (21 deg in my case) and it pretty much just works!

+ 1 for the sensor. Had a similiar problem with a previous car of mine. The outside temperature sensor failed and confused the air con system with tis erratic readings.

This may help, but seems to be a common enough Passat issue.

If the interior temperature is warmer then it will blow cold to cool it to reach your selected temperature. Could be a faulty sensor though.

    The water droplets are normal.

Anybody know where the interior sensors are in an '07 Passat ?
