Irish consultants often have a God complex, I have no problems dealing with non Irish staff

I was in hospital recently, and was mostly treated by Irish doctors and nurses, but also an Indian doctor and a Phillippine nurse. And I couldn't give a flying fúck. Once a doctor or nurse has good bedside manner I'm happy to deal with them. (And is capable of their job, obviously.)

I had great treatment in my time in hospital. The doctors were busy, and quite firm with me as a patient, but that's to be expected, they have a lot to do. The nurses were amazing, always smiling, always friendly and constantly making you feel at ease. Top notch care, to be honest.

Was treated by irish and non irish, no bias towards either.

All went fine once i pointed out the difference between clavical and ankle to a german student doctor.

    everything went perfect

    I could'nt care less if the doctors/nurses are yellow/pink
once they care and do a good job

Couldn't care less so long as they are competent and treat me with respect :-) which to date all doctors in public hospitals have. However in two private hospitals/clinics i found the irish doctors talked at me not to me.

    was thinking the same myself...

I personally couldn't give a damn which doctor sees me, just as long as he/she is a good reliable doctor who knows what they're doing, couldn't care less what race, nationality, belief, sexual orientation etc...

(if it was some embarrassing condition all I would hope for that it isn't some drop-dead gorgeous hot male doctor ;))

    Would prefer non-Irish

Couldn't care less. What I would like is not to be left on a trolley for an eternity and for the place to be clean. Mother was in a hospital last week and mys sister was with here and said it was disgusting.

With the way Irish training is being systematically dismantled the time is coming where people should chose to be treated by the foreign docs to be perfectly honest

I have had the opposite experience. To the extent that I could give reasonable consideration to staying half dead in the ditch before going to a public hospital.

That's every bit as prejudicial, biased and bigoted as preferring Irish.

OP; if you were in a life threatening accident and the only staff available are non-Irish will you wait for an Irish doctor/nurse?

    I didn't think so! ;)

    What's with these threads... jaysus!

There was a time when Irish nurses were among the best trained in world......then that changed and they started to moan, groan and whine, and forget why they actually became a nurse in 1st place- to help the sick !

Personally, I couldn't give a damn the nationally once the doc or nurse had a bit of cop on and common sense and ideally, could speak to me in a language I can understand.

I'm sure most people in Irish hospitals would like to be seen by someone but that's usually a pipe dream.

I've been seen by both Irish and non-Irish doctors and both were equally good. I really do not CARE as long as they can do their job and help me.

I lay on the floor of a corridor in Tullamore hospital with a cracked vertebrae for 8 hours once. I would have welcomed a blind psychotic gorilla if he brought some pain relief.
